Nomination World Ski Awards 2019

Mountain Vision AG

After last year's award record year, LAAX is again nominated for the World Ski Awards in various categories this year. In the categories "Switzerland's Best Ski Resort", "World's Best Freestyle Resort" and "World's Best Green Ski Hotel" (rocksresort), LAAX is entering the race and wants to secure the coveted titles.

The LAAX ski resort received five awards last year, two of which were presented at the World Ski Awards. For the third time in a row, LAAX was named "World's Best Freestyle Resort" in November 2018. The title "World's Best Green Ski Hotel" also went to LAAX thanks to the innovative and sustainable concept of the rocksresort.

As a three-time defending champion, LAAX would be honored to win best and most popular freestyle resort again this year. The same applies to the title of the most environmentally friendly hotel. In 2018, LAAX came third in the category "Switzerland's Best Ski Resort" and was not quite at the top of the podium - this is set to change this year.

Every vote counts!

Anyone wishing to vote for LAAX can do so once in each category. To cast your vote, simply click on the desired category below and go to LAAX. Swiss Epic 2019

Mountain Vision AG

The clock's ticking! The Swiss Epic 2019 starts on August 20th in Davos. In the 5-day race with a stopovers in St. Moritz and Lenzerheide, professionals and passionate mountain bikers will compete in teams of two.

Participating for LAAX:

  • the "Hammer-Laax-Team" with Tamara Burkhardt and Nina Brenn - one of only eight pure women's teams.
  • the "Scott Development Team" with Andrin Beeli und Kevin Kuhn.

The message of the event is simple: the most beautiful trails in the Alps are located in the Grisons. It is therefore not surprising that the Swiss Epic 2020 will also stop at LAAX. Until then, there's still a good year left to build up the basic fitness if you want to participate here on site.

Rain biking

Mountain Vision AG

If it's raining cats and dogs, it's time for the muddy trails. Because no true biker is afraid of a bit of mud, even if the rear wheel goes crazy and slippery roots get you rolling. Biking in the rain improves your riding technique and brings out the child in you. And biking in the rain is like a wellness holiday. The only difference - the mud pack is free.

All that remains is the question of the perfect clothing for your mountain biking: in Flims Laax Falera you can test a dirtlej dirtsuit free of charge on rainy days from 10 July to 20 October 2019. By the way, Claudio Caluori, iconic biker from Graubünden and known from the video "Home of Trails", tested the suit and was thrilled.

The offer:

  • You will receive a Dirtlej dirtsuit for testing free of charge on presentation of a valid bike ticket (day ticket or TOPCARD, offer while supplies last).
  • Valid: 10 July to 20 October 2019
  • Location: LAAX Rental at the valley station in Flims (Tel. +41 (0)81 927 70 73, rental@laax.com)
  • Important: As always, please also stay on the trails when cycling in the rain.

Weekend operations 24 / 25 November

Mountain Vision AG

After a successful start into the season, the wind and weather conditions for the coming weekend from 24 to 25 November 2018 have put a stop to our plans. For this reason the slopes on the Vorab glacier will remain closed. However, the forecasts for temperatures are positive, so that the snowmaking team is making good progress with the technical snowmaking in order to open a range of pistes around the Crap Sogn Gion on the weekend of 1 to 2 December 2018.

The cable car from Laax-Murschetg to Crap Sogn Gion will run this weekend as usual from 8.30 a.m. so that guests can enjoy culinary delights in the GALAAXY. The Neverend Trail for bikers and the winter hiking trail from Crap Sogn Gion to Crap Masegn are not open due to the intensive phase of technical snowmaking. The LAAX RENTAL offers skateboards for hire, for example, to conquer the Urban Surfwave and the Snakerun.
